Emily McCord Head Coach

Coach Emily graduated from Kingston High School in 2022 and is currently a sophomore swimming at the State University of Geneseo. Emily started swimming at the age of 10 where she joined the Kingston Hurricanes and stayed there up until she graduated high school. She also swam for the KHS Varsity swim team starting in 7th grade and joined the Rosendale Rapids 6 years ago. Emily made sectionals 5 out of her 6 years on the team. In that time she had placed first in the 500 free at sectionals in 2021. Her senior year, she placed 2nd at Sectionals while also making the New York State cut in the 200 free and setting the KHS record in that event. Emily has been teaching swim lessons since she was 14 at the YMCA and has also taught swim lessons as a swim counselor at a local summer camp for 2 years. She is excited to be a coach this year and to share her love of swimming with the team.

Hayle Cuff Assistant Coach

Hayle is finishing out her freshman year of college at East Carolina University. She is majoring in Political Science under the Pre-Law program with a minor in Psychology. Hayle has swam with the Rapids for 6 years, and this will be her third year coaching. She has swam ever since she was 4 years old on the Kingston Hurricanes and spent 6 years on the Kingston High School Varsity swim team. At college Hayle is part of a service sorority and spends her time volunteering for her college town. She is excited to be coaching again this year and to teach the sport she loves!

Jack Samko Assistant Coach

Coach Jack has been swimming for 11 years and is currently in his freshman year at SUNY New Paltz. He began swimming for Harbor Seals swim club and CYO/O.L.P.H swim team in Brooklyn NY at the age of 7 and joined Rosendale Rapids at the age of 12. He also swam with Phoenix Aquatic Club and Kingston YMCA Hurricanes. He qualified for State Championships his Senior year of varsity swimming in the 50 free and 100 butterfly. He swam the 50 Free, 100 butterfly and 200 butterfly, as well as the 200 free relay and the 400 free relay at the SUNYAC championships 2024. Additionally, Jack was also on HS varsity track and soccer team and played soccer for Rondout Rovers club. This will be his third year coaching and he is very excited to make the practices fun and enjoyable.

Caroline Steeves Part-time Assistant Coach

Coach Caroline has been swimming since she was eight years old. She is currently a freshman studying engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where she is a member of the swim team, mainly specializing in the backstroke and freestyle events. Caroline swam for Kingston High School's varsity team for six years and swam with various local club teams. She currently trains with Hawks Swimming Association. This summer will be her third year coaching for the rapids and she is excited to help young swimmers find their passion for the sport she loves.

Erin Navarra Part-time Assistant Coach

Erin has been swimming competitively for almost 7 years. She will be graduating from Kingston High School this year with plans to study Biology at a four year college. Erin began her swimming career with the rapids in 2018. She also swam for Kingston’s high school varsity swim team for four years as well as a couple club teams during the winter, qualifying for sectionals and YMCA states. She has experience teaching young swimmers at the YMCA and Starfish summer camp. Erin is very excited to be joining the team this year and is looking forward to helping swimmers succeed while also having fun!

Grace McArdle Pre-team Coordinator/ Coach

Grace has been swimming for 8 years. This will be her second year coaching the Rapids pre-team. She began swimming with the Rapids at the age of 9. Grace previously swam with the YMCA Hurricanes and qualified for YMCA States three years. She also swam for the Kingston High School Varsity Team during 8th, 9th and 10th grade. Grace is finishing her sophomore year at Rondout Valley High School where she plays Varsity lacrosse. Grace also plays lacrosse with Yellow Jackets Dutchess. Grace loves working with children. She has been teaching swimming lessons through the YMCA since she was 14 and also teaches small group and private lessons to several families in the community. Grace enjoys making swim fun and is excited to work with our swimmers this summer!

Natalie Cascio Pre-team Coach

Natalie‘s been on the Rosendale Rapids for eleven years. She started swimming at five years old with the pre-team, this was before Rosendale had its own pool and everyone had to swim at Wiltwyck. The swim team has always been her favorite part of summer break and it has helped her to become a better swimmer. She now swims for the Kingston Varsity team and the Hurricanes during the school year. She still remembers her pre-team coach, Mary, and hopes to make a similar impact on this year’s pre-team. Most of all she can’t wait to coach and have fun this summer!!

Abby McCord Pre-team Coach

Abby McCord swam competitively for five years for the YMCA Hurricanes as well as in summer swim, excelling in the butterfly stroke. Her love of swimming led her to become a lifeguard and a coach for pre-team swim, where she enjoys fostering a positive and encouraging environment for young swimmers.

Abby has a diverse athletic background, including being a defensive soccer player on her high school varsity team, travel team, and academy team. She also volunteers as a buddy for children in the Hudson Valley Soccer Stars adaptive youth soccer league. She is excited to bring her enthusiasm, hard work, and positive spirit to the Rosendale Rapids.
