The Rapids are collecting donations for the Coach Kevin Storrs Memorial Scholarship. This is a scholarship awarded to a senior swimmer each year, and the second year this scholarship is being offered. For those of you who are not familiar, Coach Kevin Storrs had an unwavering commitment to children’s learning in and out of the pool for 40+ years. The swim community was devastated by Kevin’s passing on April 14, 2023 following his battle with pancreatic cancer. Kevin’s love for the sport of swimming, and his emphasis on “team” and leadership will forever be carried on by those who had the opportunity to work with him. Kevin not only focused on the development and achievements of his swimmers, but he also emphasized a joy and love for the sport. Kevin challenged his swimmers and athletes to be role models, leaders, mentors and encouraged them to reach their goals both in and outside of the water. Kevin will truly be missed.

This scholarship is to honor Kevin Storrs’ commitment to not only the physical demands of swimming, but the development of one’s character for having participated in the world of swimming.
